Hi all, this is my first post since I'm new to the sight so I hope someone out there can help me. I'm looking for a FF FDE 4 rail rifle length hand guard.I also want it to be one piece and has to match MAGPUL stock & pistol grip as close as possible. I've searched this sight hi and low for recommendations but i am still undecided. MI makes them but they don't match the color and I've read some negative posts about them so i don't know if I want to go that way. Does anybody have any suggestions? I have a feeling i'll end up painting one to get the proper color. Thanks to all in advance!

Hey there! Welcome. Have you considered getting the rail you want (doesn't matter what color you buy it in) and having it anodized FDE?

Sounds like a good idea. Do you know of anyone who does anodizing?

Does the DD RIS come in FDE? I haven't checked but will shortly. I just wonder how close the color match wiould be.

The DD color is WAY off. Not that it matters, it's still awesome - but it's closer to chocolate or coyote than anything Magpul FDE.

And getting a DD rail anodized is not going to work either - they can not guarantee any specific shade, and this is a pretty specific shade you want.

You will need to either accept DD's color, or paint with gunkote FDE (or the lesser duracoat) if you need it :)

The DD RIS II is available in FDE, but don't expect it to match the Magpul FDE.  Every manufacturer has a different shade of FDE and depending on the part you can get two different shades of FDE from the same manufacturer.  Polymer, Metal, etc...will all accept the same color in a different manner.

If you want everything to match perfectly, your only options are a custom finish like duracoat or a rattle can job.  I'm pretty sure that anodizing will not work on polymer parts and even if it did, I'd almost guarantee they wouldn't match due to the difference in material.

duracoat actually has magpul DFE in their catalog so I guess I'll try it to see how close it is.
