| I have several geissele 13" rails. On a whim I measured the barrel to rail lateral alignment on each. The worst alignment has the rail approx 0.020 off center from the barrel. Irons zeroed fine. I know some degree of misalignment is expected. Is what I am seeing within the acceptable window for alignment error? Just curious what everyone else's experience is. Thanks. |
| I've owned a grip of RIS IIs and every single one index's off axis from perfect. As long as the BUIS zero and the barrel doesn't hit the rail under fire (barrel whip) then it doesn't really matter to be honest. As long as the rail holds true to keep the front sights zero/LAM's zero etc. |

If the hard sights are good to go I believe it stands to reason that an optic would be too. For example, let's say a red dot has a 2 moa (roughly 2") at 100 yards. 0.020" off would result in a difference of 0.04" at poi. I think. Math is my weakness. This is assuming the optic is even rail mounted of course |

BUT, if the rail holds true the optic would be zero'd for the .020" difference anyways. So as long as the optic will zero, no issue to be seen. Would just be an OCD thing at that point. This is assuming the optic is even rail mounted of course |
| It is entirely an OCD thing. I am not of the camp that must have the rear buis centered, so it's not a problem for me. But since I assembled them I was more curious if that was normal tolerance or I didn't do my part on assembly. That's where my curiousity laid. |
