| So I was at my local black rifle dealer the other day discussing ff rails. I have my heart set on the DD 12 lite which would require a low pro gas block. He suggested getting a rail with a notch cut out of the top for the standard fsp then using a gas block which has the picatinny portion built in to put my folding front sight on. His logic was if I knocked my ff rail around I wouldn't have to worry about loosing my iron's zero or disturbing it in any way. Does this sound like something I should worry about or am I over-thinking things? |

I picked up one of the Daniel Defense DDM4 uppers during the Christmas sale, and it has the Omega-X 12.0FSP rail from the factory. I like the rail, and the fixed FSB sticking up thru the top rail doesn't bother me too much, though I may eventually replace it with an all-in-one folding FSB later on. It does look a little wierd to some folks though, if that matters to you.
A lot of folks run folding front sights on the top of thier handguard rail without problems (as far as I can tell) but I too fall into the camp of prefering my metal sights to be hard-mounted to the barrel (with PINS not screws, thank you), but for the one exception of monolithic uppers where if the rail has moved, you probably have bigger thing to wory about than weapon zero. But that's my personal stance on the subject, based on my opinions and limited experience. YMMV Tex78 |
| I have a 10" & 12" DD lite. They are rock solid and I love them both. If I were to build another I wouldn't think twice about getting a DD lite rail for it. That's just my opinion and what I like. Since you have your heart set on them, I would go with that instead of some guy behind a counter and his logic. You'll be glad you did. |

I have a DD RIS II 10" (lite mounting method) and an Omega (attaches to delta ring) 9". Both are free floating and very light! I highly recommend it. Moreover they come with three ladder rail covers (~$36 value).
Top notch and reference bar for many rail manufacturers to meet or beat IMHO. |

Do you mean the 9.5 Mk 18 or am I missing something. Did DD come out with a new rail? Or do mean a Lite 10"? |
