Sorry if this is a dupe, but with FN apparently making civilian P90's and F2000's, has anyone heard anything about whether FN will make civilian AR's?

I'd love to have a civvy M16A4 made by FN

By contract with the U.S. military, they will not make a AR-15.

This could change, but I doubt it, since Colt owns the rights to the name Ar-15.

Even if they could make ARs, they still couldn't make civvy M16s. No one can.

I know. I just didn't know what to call it as I assume FN would have to play the same name games that Bushmaster et al. do so as not to get sued by Colt.

I think it would be cool if FN broke into the civie AR market.

The primary difference between FN and Bushmaster is that FN actually paid Colt for access to the TDP, so FN rifles are produced according to the print-rather than reverse engineered

Someone said that since colt gave FN the drawing for the M16, and therefor they are using colt's property therefor they cannot make them outside of the contract.
