I went to a gun show yesterday and one table had a bunch of well used USGI mags of all different makes. I went through them and found a FN mag and since I don't have one or have I ever even heard of them I bought it. I got home and looked and Troy's mag FAQ and for FN mags it says they are made from Steel. Do you guys know if they only made them in steel or did they also make aluminum ones. The mag body itself doesn't have any markings and it came with a black follower so it looks like it's from the 80's. The baseplate has the right FN markings but when I took it apart to clean it the spring is a dark bronze color just like OKAY/COLT mags are so I started to think it's just a OKAY mag with a FN floorplate. So I need to know if FN ever made aluminum AR/M16 mags thanks!! |
I was unaware that FNH offers steel magazines. May I ask where you found these? Thank you. Justin |
| That seems likely. They also look like the steel mags coming with the SCAR, at least based on pictures in the SAR review of the SCAR a few months. They are pricy, but a little less than the HK mags. The follower appears to be a green style follower, not a newer two legged anti-tilt style. |
| i also got mine from cmmg and they are definitly expensive. and i dont think they even come close to comparing to an hk mag. hk mags are %100 nicer quality and function. i bought the fn mags hoping they would be real nice and i wasnt to impressed with them at all. |
