| ANYONE HAVE ONE YET? FOR 1/3RD THE PRICE OF A RAS, JUST WONDERING HOW THEY HELD UP, HOW TIGHT OF A FIT IS IT? |
|
I just got mine and I am impressed. I most likely will not be useing optics on them but I think it would work. Very tight. However if optics is your main reason for getting rails and not just the need for forward grip and light attachments, then I would still reccomend RAS or similar. These seem fine but the heat and plactic and vibration most likely will not make a good combination for the long run. But they do have a lifetime replacement against failure. I have not heard yet about the RAS pannels but I will find out asap. I have a feeling that they don't because this question has been asked several different places and CMMG dosen't answer?? But I will try as soon as I can get my hands on some pannels. |
| I got a set along with a First Samco foregrip. I am very happy with them. The handguards are tight, I also used a wooden mallet to get mine in. The grip is comfortable and stable. I am not going to mount optics on mine either, but I would think it could work. I also like the looks of mine. I presently have mine on a Bushmaster M4orgery and that is not the look I want on that particular rifle, but They will look great on whatever I end up leaving them on. This is my next big AR15 mod. to work on. I now have a RAS II on one rifle and the First Samco handguards on another. A little bit of overtime and I will get a Surefire 900 series light that I can use on several different rifles. |

Ok, I tried a panel from my KAC RAS II on the First Samco M44 handguard. No, it won't work, at least not well. Of course the panel will slide over the rail, but the panel from my RAS II was one "section" too long for the M44. Also the locking thing on the KAC panel didn't lock into the M44 rail. I am still not sure what the attraction is to the KAC panels ? I don't have a lot of experience with these things; these are the only two handguard rail systems I own, I haven't had them long, and I haven't done a lot with them. I put a vertical foregrip on each rifle and have an Aimpoint on the RAS II. I really don't plan on doing anything else with them. I wanted to try the vertical foregrip and I wanted to buy a Surefire 900 series light and be able to use it on several different rifles. I think the M44 panel system is very clean. When you have the panels on the handguard, you can't really tell that it has four rails. The panels fit completely flush. |
