just rec'd my first AR - bushy modular carbine.  Been reading through these forums quite a bit lately and am a bit confused.  Do I need anything other than FP-10 to clean and lubricate?  Specifically, do I use the FP-10 to clean the chamber, bore , & all other parts?  Or do I need to clean the chamber & bore with solvent first and then apply the FP-10?  Any replies would be appreciated.

FP-10 is a CLP (Cleaner, Lubricant, Protectant)...you can use other solvants if you want...but FP-10 is all you need.  I use FP-10 and that's it...it's all you need....I use Hoppes No.9 to clean the barrel from time to time.

I have heard that M-pro 7 stuff is the best stuff for cleaning.. I havent used it on any of my stuff yet but I bought a bunch and I'm gonna try it after the next time I go to the range.

FP-10 is a really good CLP... which means its a decent cleaner... but I like to use solvents and use FP-10 or break free as lubricant.

If CLP type (like FP-10) is all you have, that can get you buy.  It cleans, lubricates, and protects - but does not do any of those things as well as dedicated products.  I recommend you use a good solvent for your bore, and the FP-10 to lubricate and preserve.  Other products will help remove carbon/copper fouling much better than CLP will, and do it quicker.
