I have a barrel I've purchased that was a stripped PSA CHF barrel. It originally had a pinned on FSB, but was sold to me stripped. I have a FSB with set screws. Is it ok to use set screws on a barrel drilled for pins? It will line up vertically and the set screws go partially into the drilled holes.
I can post pics this evening, just curious if anyone has dealings with something like this. |

I would not try it on this barrel UNLESS you do a complete set screw mod. with two more set screws coming in from the bottom of the FSB. If you only use the side set screws (a method I've never been a fan of), the set screws will be engaging those little webbed areas where the former pins were. It will probably be nearly impossible to keep the FSB from canting and I don't think it will be secure enough.
