I have a 10 yr old Armalite take off barrel from an M15A2. . .Can you give me any tips on getting the FSB off?  Which direction with the pins? etc?

IIRC armalite use straight pins...

if you have tapered pins then look on both sides of the FSB and determine which side of the pins is the SMALLER end. It should be the left side, and you'll need to knock the pins out from left to right.

I'd suggest to put some oil on the barrel in front of the FSB to prevent scratching the barrel's finish while removing the FSB

Best way I've found is to get a rubber mallet.  Once you get the pins out just play whack-a-mole with your FSB, with the flash hider sitting on a piece of wood.
