Has it ever been a policy for the FSB's on A1 rifles to be replaced or repaired, while under maintnence by the army, etc

Say you get a "surplus" barrel is there any reason at all for the taper pin holes to appear ovaled, or even bigger round than the pin itself?

The majority of the time,we would not take an FSB off.We would just order another barrel.I can't speak for what was done in the 60's,70's,and 80's.It was probably done after "retiring" from military service.

Note how the big end of the taper pin falls into the hole.
This doesnt look right does it? Perhaps my standards are too high.

There is no reasont remove a FSB unless the cap or barrel nut is damaged..
You see the one that had the hell hammered out of it.. It never came off and the barrel nut and cap are in fine shape.

Mexico, Hawaii?
Your FSB sure gets around, no wonder it is worn.
It just looks like your FSB has been removed and someone from WECSOG reinstalled it.
If the gas tube was hard to remove the armourer would sometimes remove the FSB instead.
