Has anyone installed set screws in there FSB? When I install my fsb on my bbl it's canted to the right, and instead of manipulating the receiver notch I saw where I could install set screws. Doesn't someone sell a FSB like this?

Any size, technique recommendations?

Thanks

Rob

Yes

Drill #29, tap 8-32 and use 1/8" to 1/4" long 8-32 set screws. Debur the barrel channel and use some blue loc-tite.

I used the package available from here.

AR sight mods

The 8 36 set screws put a little more thread on the FSB.

Putting the flats on the barrel is the key to a rock solid setup.  But that means you have to have access to a mill..................................

Or a dremel.

It would be nice to have a jig to index off the barrel extension pin and or gas port to set this up in a mill. I've been thinking about this.

Thanks for the replies, and good information. I've purchased a DPMS FSB with the 4 set screws already installed....I'll go this route until I decide if I am going to sell this bbl, and buy a new bbl...

So have other builders.

I just can't believe anyone would rather buy more parts, then remove and replace an FSB (a HUGE pain in the ass!!) instead of spending 10 minutes adjusting the slot in the upper receiver.  And 10 minutes includes spinning the barrel nut off, filing and peening the slot, then spinning the barrel nut back on.

That's why it's always best to stick your barrel in the upper receiver and look down the sights before tightening the barrel nut.

Amen to checking the sights, I sure learned that lesson recently.  I went from over 20 clicks left windage due to slot play, to only 7 after reindexing the barrel while retightening the nut...WITH A BREAKER BAR.

I was going to do the adjustment, but the pin holes don't even line up. the front pin can't it slightly, if I try to force the rear pin in it gets stuck 1/2 way out, and cant's it even further...disassembly isn't a PIA it's trying to fit that rear pin...I took your methods to heart, but just decided to go another route...

I bought the bbl with a YHM flip up combo on it, not the factory FSB....there is no slack in my upper to sdjust it unless I do H_E's method, I realize that it's a simple fix "IF" the pin holes line up!
