I'm thinking of switching out my standard FSB for a flip up version. Can anyone instruct me on how to remove it or give me a link that will do so. thanks

BFH!!!
On mine I drifted out the pins, then lubed it up and lightly tapped it out.

Here's how I did my wifes just recently

1) Remove any FH or Break on the Barrel
2) Remove Upper from lower and remove the BCG
3) Remove the gas tube roll pin (I used a 1/16 punch)
4) Remove the Gas Tube
5) Knock out the Taper Pins with a punch (you will probably have to put a little bit of force on these pins to get them started)
6) Lube up the end of the barrel (and the lower side of the FSB) with CLP
7) Carefully wiggle and slide off the FSB
8) Drink lots of of Beer and Celebrate cause the discease has just grown deeper

Thanks!! One more question though. Does it scratch up the finish on the barrel when you remove it?

That's actually why you lube up the outside of the barrel...to make the fsb slide off easier and to protect the barrel from scratches.

Yes . . . you will "probably" have to "put a little bit of force on these pins to get them started"  I had to whack the pind on my Bushy Superlight barrel harder than I thought I would, and harder than I was really comfortable with (with my biggest hammer) to get them started . . .  All's well that ends well

You can slide the gas tube back into the reciever then forward past either side of the FSB.

BTW tapered pins go out left to right on 99% of rifles and right to left on some STAG leftys.

X2..that's why I removed the upper and the BCG first.  that way I was able to remove the gas tube by pushing it back into the upper receiver and then around the FSB.
