Welcome to the site. First: Do the last round fired bolt catch test. Put one round in the magazine. Charge the round and fire it. See that the bolt catch functions and holds the bolt carrier assy, back and open. If it does not you may have gas leaks or other problems inhibiting travel of the bolt carrier group. ------------------- if that works as described then--------------------- You need to overhaul your extractor claw assy. It is slipping off the case and spoiling the extract/eject cycle. If operating properly, the spent casing should be extracted and ejected with authority and land several feet away. While you are at it check the ejector pin in the bolt face. Make sure it can be depressed. Note: this will take several pounds of force to depress. extractor claw repair parts: claw, pin, spring, elastomer can be purchased from various vendors, as some listed above. No additional tools are required. You can manually push the extractor claw pivot pin out with the firing pin or small dia. rod. Clean the recess in the bolt thoroughly with carbon remover after removal of the claw. |

Replace the old extractor spring with a Wolf extra tension unit, and until the new spring shows up, install a #60-O rings around the old spring to add tension to it (the O-rings are around a dime each at Home depot/Ace hardware). www.gunsprings.com/RifleShotgun/Colt_RsNF.html Also, Brownells carry the springs as well. |
Congratulation on the improvement. Quarantine the offending magazine. Please follow Dano's directions. Brand-X gunshow parts may be suspect. Please tell where the ejected brass are landing in relative distance to the rifle ejection port. What about the ejector pin? What is the ammo in use? |
