| Today I had 2 FTF's. I have about 6000 through this AR and this was the first time. It was clean and only fired about 200 rounds today. Both rounds were hit hard and had big dents in the primer. Tap'd, Rack'd, on rolled without other problems....(till the second one of course.) Using factory new Remmington UMC 55 gr FMJ ammo. I cleaned and checked it today and all seems in order. Just curious, how often others have had a FTF? |

I would lump Remington .223 ammo into a catagory of slightly better than Wolf, just barely. I saw primers pop out and work their way into the guts of the receiver, jambing the rifle a few times. Also, gunpowder residue leaves the rifle a bit dirty (filthy) compared to Winchester or Federal ammo. Just my two cents. Try another brand of ammo. |
| Used to have a 1 or 2 in every magazine, we threw those away and got something better. We've had some serious FTF's and major jams where 3 rounds were forced into the same area. It was ammo related. Yesterday we had nothing but problems in a carbine, and the A3 made some 3 round bursts all by itself, not very good when your shooting at 3" disc on a mountain side. Soft primers, or bad luck, can't be primers we shot thousands of these in past years, I think its because I cleaned the blasted bolt, next time I wont clean it until it stops working. I use Militec dry gun lube as well what a difference. |
your rifles give mine a bad name. might wanna get that 3-round burst issue checked out. you could get yourself in a lot of trouble. ap |
