Well I went to the range again yesterday and had some more fail to feeds. Again I am shooting an Armalite M15 SOF that has less than 200 rounds through it. The first time out I shot both wal-mart value pack ammo and Wolf 55grain new stuff with a colt USGI 30 round mag. This time I used only wolf ammo and the factory Armalite 10 round mag and still had fail to feeds. Any suggestions? Could this happen if I did not lube the rifle properly.
Thanks

Not to sound like an ass, but you'll get better feedback in the "troubleshooting" forum--ask for Tweak.

The new wolf ammo seems to have problems with the bolt pushing the next round into the chamber, it could be the new wolf is underpowered or the polymer case is too sticky.

Some have said that both Wolf and Wallyworld value pack ammo isn't loaded as hot as other factory ammo. Since your Armalite is still brand new it could be a simple matter of the rifle just not being broken in and "loose" enough yet to cycle ammo that doesn't have as much snap as other brands.

You might want to change ammo and see what happens. Most Armalite owners swear by their rifles reliability, so I would be inclined to blame the ammo before I blamed the rifle. You may find that once you get more rounds downrange that Wolf and Wally ammo work fine [:)]

Ditto what CJan_NH said.

Along with different ammo I'd also try some other USGI mags too.

Try some XM193 or Q3131a and see how it works.

BTW, are the FTF problem you are having because the bullet gets stuck on the way to the chamber or are the bullets not getting picked up(short stroke) and chambered?

It is not even stripping the next round out of the mag. And now that I think of it yesterday after shooting the last round the bolt closed and didnt stay open 2or3 times. I have some Q3131a that I will try next time out. Will the gun break in and be able to shoot cheap ammo after awhile or is there a light recoil spring you can put in to be able to shoot cheap ammo?
Thanks

DING DING - failure to lock on an empty mag is a key indicator of short stroke.

I also agree that CJan_NH is right.  Get some better ammo and break that rifle in for a few hundred, then I'll bet you that your Wally-World ammo will work.  Careful admitting that you've been using Wolf if you determine you need to call technical support.  Some manufacturers claim that is a no-no.

IMPORTANT, also disassemble your bolt carrier group and make sure that the rings on the bolt are not lined up.

Hm..I seem to recall I also had some growing pains with budget ammo.

But this should probably be in the Troubleshooting forum - IBTL [:D]

Thanks for all the help. I did put it in the troubleshooting and have got no hits yet. After reading some more and thinking about it I think that is exactly what it is doing is short cycling.
Thanks Again
