Mellow greetings fellow ARFers. I have a problem with my AR15. I've read the FAQ, the List Rules, the Sample Post and the Glossary and couldn't find this exact problem. My AR15 is a PSA 16" Carbine and it's failing to extract with PMC bronze ammo. I'm also using pmags. When I fire, the bolt comes to the rear but the expended case is left in the chamber. The next round in the magazine feeds into the rear of the expended case.
BTW I've cleaned the sucker before and after shooting several times and it has no affect on the outcome...I did switch the BCG out with one from my S&W M&P 15 and it performed flawlessly without any FTE. Please help me I really really love my AR and I've been told you guys are the best. Thanks in advance. A rookie out of his league. |

Sorry but I am new to posting on here and I will attempt to post some pics so hopefully this will work. I have some comparison pics between my PSA extractor (Left) and S&W extractor (Right). It appears to me that the PSA extractor is slightly different and is a tighter fit/gap..

| A new extractor from a reputable mfg from here on the board will fix that problem easily. When the gun fires and moves the bolt to the rear, but leaves the fired case in the chamber, that's just about a dead giveaway for a broke, worn, or out of spec extractor. This 1 (PSA) definitely looks out of spec to me. Hope this helps! |

Pull the extractor from the right bolt in the above photo, and make sure that it installs just like it did in the other bolt (bottom rim relief channel flush with the face of the bolt recess.
If it does, then only the extractor on the bolt on the left is defective. If it does not mount up just like the bolt on the right in the photo, then the entire bolt is defective, and it and and the extractor will need to be replaced (read play it safe and have then replace the entire B/C). |

If this is from PSA's recent deals I wonder how many others out there are out of spec? Well, out of the thousands of bolts we have sold, this is the first I have seen of an out of spec extractor. We warranty our products, and ask anyone with a issue to please contact us. |

There is no doubt in my mind that Palmetto's excellent customer service will rectify this issue quickly. Palmetto is quickly becoming my go to site for AR related parts and accessories and a "possible" bad lot of extractors will not deter me from future purchases. With that said, when will the next mid-lengths and 20" uppers be available. |

Hey PSA I have been waiting and waiting and still have not received my replacement part. I have sent emails to Joe W. and he responded saying: "I am showing that the package was delivered today. (7-1-11)"
I understand you guys are swamped with orders but common I'm starting to really lose my patience........... |

So after checking where my part is I found out that it was shipped to a completely different state. I emailed Joe W at Palmetto State Armory multiple times about the problem and he has ignored all replies....I am starting to get pretty pissed off at PSA. Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I'm almost 100% sure that this is not a miscommunication problem because I contacted him first about a missing firing pin, which was sent fairly prompt and now I haven't had any luck......All I have to say is PSA is now #1 on my S#it list |

I shot my new 16" PSA HF upper today for the 1st time with 0 issues (other than dud-like primers)..
I shot 160 rounds of brass (including PMC Bronze 223 55gr FMJ).. I had 3 HARD primers with that.. and 1 Federal AE 223 I'm running a standard DPMS Carbine (factory) Buffer if that matters.. My BCG looks like the 1 on the RIGHT in your pic however.. Try PM ing JAMIN from the PSA forums section.. maybe he can help you out.. |
