So I just got back from the range, and it was not a good day. I just purchased a LMT MRP 16" with LMT BCG and LMT Lower. I was using Ficocchi 55gr ammo, and had both PMAG's and normal magazines. The Problem: I would shoot a round, and it would not eject the next round. I then continue to take action, and tap mag and pull back charging handle, it will then load the next round. So I firedm and the same thing happens, it will not eject. After a couple of times it then will not properly feed the round in the chamber. What could this be? Gas tube, Ammo, BCG, Mags? Please help? Thanks |

First off, was the rifle completely cleaned and CLP lubed before the rifle was fired? If you just ran a patch down the barrel, and added a few drops of oil to the rifle, you pretty much go the end result that was expected. The rifles are grease to prevent storage rust, and until that is removed, the rifle is going to have problems breaking in. The cleaning and maintenance forum has details on such if they where not covered in the manual. To add: If you are going to use Hoppes copper solvent to clean the bore and chamber, make sure to remove all of it's remnants before lubing. CLP and Hoppes copper solvent mix to produce a gumming mess that will cause problems. Also, you will need a chamber brush to scrub and clean the chamber correctly. Futher more, don't overlook taking the mags apart and cleaning them a well. Often, you will find that even brand new mag are littered with production debris as well from assembly. |
| like dano said, make sure the rifle is properly cleaned and lubed and trying another few mags or so. If it continues it almost sounds like a gas problem, I'd give LMT a call if it still isnt working after a couple hundred more rounds after cleaning and lubing. LMTs usually dont have much of break in period. |
| Thanks for the replies. I did properly clean the weapon when I received it. I have used several types of ammo, and mags, and the problem has not fixed itself. (The bolt will not lock back and extract after I put 1 round or a complete mag in and shoot). I am thinking it is either the gas or the BCG. The BCG seems to be getting couaght up on something in the upper. It will not slide back and forth properly which also might be the problem. I am calling LMT on Monday. |
