| Ran across a deal this morning at a garage sale and though it was worth the risk of it being a clone. The site has been sanded down and painted, so the serial number has been painted over. Other than that, everything looked good to me. This is my first comp m4 though, so I don't have anything to compare it to.http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv196/cmikes3/501F746F-03AF-4542-9236-EDCBB6B34542-7005-000003A5BBAAEB09.jpghttp://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv196/cmikes3/3CF9730F-EC5E-41A1-B1CC-480C651D056A-7005-000003A5C55086B6.jpghttp://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv196/cmikes3/7E00510A-097E-48DC-95C6-05B82B399987-7005-000003A5CDCFE3DC.jpghttp://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv196/cmikes3/504E5403-91E3-4C03-BF69-1312DEA89A16-7005-000003A5E0281098.jpghttp://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv196/cmikes3/B95C5594-8085-49FA-8BD6-1A7D0F52F288-7005-000003A5ED1CF948.jpg |

Does the power button spin round and round with a little effort or does it have a true positive stop?
Does the red dot ever change color? Post a photo of the inside of the battery cap. The fact that the serial number has been obscured indicates the unit is most likely stolen, which would make me walk away. Try some heavy duty finger nail polish remover or some brake fluid where the serial number shood be. Either one will remove paint without damaging the anodized finish. Wes |
| I took my finger nail and scratched the paint where the serial number should be and it has been sanded down to the bare metal in that area. The bottom of the site, under the frame wasn't painted and still has the anodized finish. I also scratched the paint on the top of the site and there is anodized finish underneath the paint there. Without the serial number, there's no way for me to trace the scope, correct? I don't want to have stolen goods, but is there a way to know for sure other than just suspicion? |

I've owned the comp m4s and it looks legit from the pictures you provided. Pics of the battery cap, as mentioned earlier, can be resorted for good measure, Also, the number of clicks from off to full brightness with no change in color and a view through the glass. Maybe check on the mounting screws on the bottom if you really want to be thorough.
100$ is a steal and a "too-good-to-be-true" price and so far it looks like an authentic aimpoint. I'm thinking, the person who sold it to you at the garage sale, were they the original owner? It would make sense for an uneducated person on aimpoints to be selling off a spouses scope/possession, etc at a 100$ price tag for some quick cash. That's the only possibility i can think of though, hope it isn't stolen. |

Um....looks good until the front lens pic.
I called Aimpoint when I bought mine and they guy told me a really good thing to do is look at how the color changes on the front glass. It should go from red to yellowish to green as you angle it away from you. He said that is really expensive and the fakes just don't do it. Maybe it's the way you took the pic, but I don't see the color on your front glass pic. |

Jesus who cares if it's stolen? What's done is done. OP: Even if it is stolen nobody is coming after you. I wouldn't want to knowingly give money to some scumbag piece of shit thief but what's done is done. Also, if that is a fake then it is the most legit fake I've ever seen. |
