| I know this may be frowned upon, and it's probably been answered before but I couldn't find a good answer. Is there a company that is making an authentic looking, slip-over XM177 style flash hider/ moderator with the grenade ring. I found some but they all have that generic thin straight walled look like on the dpms welded barrels. It's for a buddy who wants the SBR look without the stamp. Maybe some of the machinist members are making them? Thanks! |

I started working on muzzle device listings in my little spreadsheet thing yesterday.
Most of the slip-over style ones I have found are the type you seem to be describing: a tube with some slots in the end that attaches to the barrel threads. I think the best bet for a slip-over that I can find is the Bushmaster one as it has some more profile to it. However I haven't seen them for sale other than from Bushmaster directly. |
| There are two choices for you. Tonys upper LLC in Ohio sells a faux flash suppressor that you can use on a short barrel and it brings the barrel to 16" when pinned and welded to a 11.5" (E2) or JT makes a very nice more authentic looking reproduction but are heavily back ordered due to how nice they are |

This one works pretty well. I wish someone still made these and was willing to tweak it a little. http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt118/fortis120/100_5594.jpg http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt118/fortis120/100_5595.jpg http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt118/fortis120/100_5037.jpg Ooh. Details on that? Because that's something I could get behind! As a customer, that is. |

Wish I had more info on it. I picked it up over 10 years ago, I think at a gun show. I would be willing to loan it out to someone with the talent to spec it out and re-produce a improved version.
P.S. this is a 14.5" barrel SBR. Never tried to permanently attach it. |

Wish someone was making those. |

yeah he's all about that XM177 "look" We were just watching "Uncommon Valor" from 1983, most of those guys were using XM177E2s,... he's gotta have one of those. Not willing to have one pinned and welded? He wants to make what he already has work, which is a 16" M4 barrel, a slipover would cover the notch in the barrel and he wouldn't have to chop, rethread, pin and weld....not worth it to him, just wants something close in appearance plus he's low on funny money. He has no retro rifles now, so this will be the start of the disease, he just doesn't know it yet. He went with me to pick up my 2 new NDS lowers and thought I was a total ass for spending $300 for 2 lowers. He has no idea what he's in for |
