With the prices of ammo for my ARs getting so ridiculous, I am SERIOUSLY considering buying a AK just because the cost of the ammo for it is so much cheaper... ![]() I don't know if I can resist the dark side? Help!

Problem for me is that I don't reload at this time. I can shot 2.5 rounds of 7.62X39 per round of decent 5.56. Also, I could give a crap less about what kind of ammo I would run through an AK, I just want to shoot more than I am right now. And the reason that is is becasue of the cost of ammo. I am particular about the ammo I feed my ARs. I take good care of them...they are my babies! |
AK ammo ain't THAT much cheaper........... But i wouldn't call it the dark side anyway.... AK's are fun to shoot.... they have their purpose and have been dubbed the greatest assault weapon in the world, ever. They earned that title. So go buy one, they are fun. But you'll like yer AR too............ at least you BETTER!!!!! |

Hey man, there is nothing wrong with AKs. I have a custom built AK-74 that accompanies my 14.5" midlength to the range each and every time. My AR is probably my favorite rifle, but I truly enjoy the AK platform, especially the 5.45x39mm round. Even less recoil than an AR, and super cheap. Bulgarian military surplus 5.45 can be had as cheap as $110 per 1000 if you get a decent deal. Admitedly it's corrosive, but the extra 5 minutes spent to clean your AK is worth the dirt cheap price for the ammo. Get an AK too, you won't be sorry. |

I don't see 7.62 x 39 any cheaper then 5.56 anymore....that is apples to apples. Isn't Wolf 7.62 and 5.56 about the same price now-a-days? You should still buy an AK...just make sure you keep your AR too Shit, I am selling my AK because the reason I loved to shoot it before was cheap ammo....not any more. I hate to say it, but ammo prices are making me way more interested in the 9mms and .22s now....and WAY mor einterested in getting back into reloading! |
