Looking to replace the old plastic grip with something more comfortable and easier on the hand.

Any suggestions on which grip fits the best.

For average size hands, these are my favorite:

Hogue
First Samco G27 grip
Tango Down Battle grip

Hogue.

My favorite method of getting a grip is to use the search feature combined with a little browsing around.  This gets discussed often around here.

Hogue grip - no questions asked. The most comfortable grip available IMO.

I like the size and shape of the CavArms, the SPR carried by WES at MSTN's nice too.
I run TD's on some guns, but would wait if I were you, for the release of MagPuls new PG, that will adjustable front and rear straps to accomodate anyones hand plus waterproof storage, plus a couple other really new and interesting ideas.

Anything that doesn't look like the HK G3 style grip.

Man those things kill the look of the AR.

I have hogues on mine.

Tango down look nice too.

Just not those god awful G3 grips.  Yuk.

So far I like the original TangoDown BattleGrip.  I don't like heavy texturing.

I'd like to try out a Hogue,  are they "squishy" at all?

Wouldn't mind seeing Magpul's too.

I use First Samco G27. Gives a good hand and finger aligement for good trigger control and non-slip hold. Has storage with a secure plug in the bottom of grip. About $18 at Midway.

My vote goes to Hogue.  Not "squishy" at all, just a nice shape and no slip.  I have them on 3 of my rifles.

Having just ordered a hogue myself it is nice to see it getting so much recomendation
Thx for the piece of mind

I use the Magpul version (HK style) and like it a lot. It does make it harder to shoot one handed but does great everywhere else. Its held up through one year of combat! I would recommend them to everyone.

The most comfortable grip I've used is the SPR. It's really fat and fills the hand well. It's slick when wet and is not user friendly to lefty's because of a thumb shelf. I've got a First Samco G27 on my defensive rifle. I like it much better than the stock grip. I wouldn't put anything heavier than a fart in the storage compartment and expect it to stay there, on mine anyway. I like the finger grooves, some don't. I found the Hogue to be too thin for my taste, it does have a nice feel and texture to it though.

First Samco G27. Fills the hand very well, provides excellent trigger finger position.
(before anyone chimes in, I know, my handle is too far back, one notch. :)

Hey, are the Hogue grips available in Green now? I saw a recent thread here where a guy built an AR with one. I did a search but turned up nothin'.

Often?  Like every week at least, and the answer is always Hogue, Ergo, TangoDown, an occasional SPR, or Fobus.

Try one, if you don't like it, add it to the pile of useless parts and get another [:)].

Well, if you only have one pile, you're OK.  Once you graduate to "piles", then you are in trouble [;)].

Only Green Hogue I've seen is from RRA & has the RRA logo on it. I also prefer the Hogue grips.

I like the Ergo...they have a new one out that is "soft" like the hogue and it comes in 3 different colors (coyote, gree and black)

Another vote for Hogue.  My wife has a Pachmayer grip on her M4, it looks goofy as hell but I really like the way it feels.

TangoDown is a great product.  Had mine on my DPMS 7" for 6 months now and feels just fine.  I've got big hands so maybe just me but it's a lot better than stock/issued.

I like the Hogue. The original A2 grip is still my favorite. I have a Tango Down as well- looks cool 'cept it's really uncomfortable for me.

Another piece for the "pile"!

While we're all here ([:D]) could someone answer a question for me? Is there such a thing as a battery storage grip (like a TD) that has finger grooves like the Hogue?

The Hogue feels better in my hand, but I really like the battery storage feature of the TD.

Does such a product exist? Or, can a Hogue be fitted with an end plug like a standard A2 grip?

Two part question:
1. Which grips are more likely than the others to require using a "gapper" when extended use is involved?
2. Which grips incorporate a duckbill?
Thanks.

First Samco G27 has both.  Don't know of any others.

Can't answer Q1, but either the Tango Down or SPR has a built in "gapper".  I have both, but can't remember which has it.  I guess I can't answer this one either.

edited to add:  just remembered: the TD has it.

My fav used to be the rubber overmolded Ergo, but I am coming back around to the overmolded Hogue.  My grip is so good with the Hogue that I can swing the rifle about holding just the grip and not lose or change my grip position.  However, I sure would like to try an overmolded TD grip!
