I thought it would be an interesting thread to see what mod or attachment everyone would choose if they were only allowed one. So in this scenario you have a completely stock AR with a quad rail and a sight...what is the one thing you put on it? Grip? Sling? Light? Etc?
Mine would have to be a vertical grip/bipod combo. And discuss... |

And discuss... prolly a light, id like to have a red dot sight but irons are fine, id like a grip but its not top choice. sling is also very important but if rather have my weapon in my hands and be able to see at night then be stuck in the dark. maybe id be wishing i had the sling hahahah |

Depends on what I'm using the rifle for... A general all-purpose rifle that I'd be using for home defense then a light first then a RDS. I don't see a sling as a mod though...To me it's just part of a rifle. I was going to say the same thing. I'm going with a good RDS as I would use that one MOD more than any other. |

Close call between the Magpul BAD and the Larue RISR.
One simplifies the manual of arms and speed up clearing jams, the other gives me a good cheek weld instead of the side-of-the-chin weld that was the only thing that I disliked about ARs. But... my AR runs 100% so far, so jams are a non-issue. I'd go with the RISR. |

I thought this was an Aimless callout thread.
Well, ok. I wouldn't really consider good sights, or optics to be a mod, they are a necessary part of the system. I would probably have to say a good aftermarket trigger. Unfortunately, I haven't bought any for any of my ARs. I did the trigger job on the factory trigger on my LR 308, and my ex wife's AR. Even those were improvements. Just cleaning up the grittiness, and adding better springs or modifying them. I really never trusted the modded springs, even though I never had any FTF with them bent and cut. I ended up going back to the factory springs on them. It is one of the best things you can do for your rifle and helping with accuracy, other than a lot of time pulling it. The biggest mod, is the one you do to the trigger puller. |

I see a mod as changing something about the current components, not so much adding equipment (RDS, weapon light, sling, etc.). In that line of thinking, the first two mods on all of my rifles are a Geissele SSA and ambi selector. This makes sense so ill go with a ambi safety since my stock trigger serves me well from 0-200 yards. As for a add on the first thing would be a sling. |
