Question on the Federal 750. I had a box from 2003 that I went out and shot today. I had a several failures to fire. The firing pin would hit the rim but did not put much of a dent in the rim. I could fire these when I tried again later. I have not had this problem with CCI Minimags or Aguila ammo. I picked up a 2007 box of Federal 750 and will try that out tomorrow. Any idea as to why Federal ammo seems to be giving me this trouble? Any idea if the newer stuff will work any better? What might I do to get more consistent ignition of this ammo? Thanks, Steve |

What are you shooting it in? I get this problem occasionally in my Model 1 upper. I was thinking it may have something to do with the rim fire rim thickness? Some of the bulk pack stuff has VERY unrefined rims, example: sharp edges, little rings of metal flaking off, etc. Granted, this is rare, but I think consistency is the issue. Mikey |

I am shooting this in an upper that I had Adco firearms build up for me. I was wondering about the consistency of the rim. I did not have my micrometer with me but I will take one to the range tomorrow and keep an eye out for irregularities in the ammo. Hopefully this new box will work better. Steve

Okay I shot 550 rds of the 750 today. All fed correctly but I had 7 out of the 550 fail to fire. Some of them have pretty good dings in the rim and others did not. I then shot 100 cci minimags and had zero problems with that and that was after shooting 550rds of the federal. I am still trying to figure out what ammo I want to standardize on for my conversion.
