Went to the local shop the other day to pick up some Federal Lake City XM193, they usually have a few boxes in stock, but not today. They did have some American Eagle .223 so I bought 2 boxes. The boxes were the usual red boxes with the eagle and all, but the boxes were actually packaged like the XM193.

Got it home to do some plinking and opened up the boxes, and go to load up my mags, and notice that the cases actually have the NATO headstamp and have LC 04 and LC05 stamped on the cases.

Now is this normal for AE? I haven't bought any AE in years and don't remember.

Thanks.

As of late, yes, AE has been loaded into LC-stamped brass (which is far better than the crap FC brass).  But it is still loaded much lighter/slower than M193.

I bought 13 boxes of AE .223 from a local gun shop and had about 5-6 rounds per box were LC marked brass (i.e. same as XM193).  I noticed this as well, but it was a pleasant surprise.
