Hi, I just ordered 2 cases of Federal XM193BK from Spragues recently, and out of the 2 cases (this is my first time ordering bulk ammo), all the bullets in one bag were covered by a gray greasy dust, and with the other bag, the bullets were clean. Is this normal? What is this crap all over the rounds in the one bag? Thanks.

I believe the consensus is that it's graphite.

Graphite, eh? Why would this cover the rounds in one bag but not the other. Quirks in the manufacturing process? Besides dirtying up me and my equipment a easier, is there any downsides to getting some bulk ammo thats covered in graphite. Thanks.

Ya, it's not greasy.

Seems like it is a graphite dust.
