| has anyone used this ammo before? it's not listed on federal's website. i picked up 300 rounds a few weeks ago for $4.50 a box, and assume that it's decent. |
|
Not familiar with it, or much of the federal stuff. But the way prices are I am keeping my options open.. How many rounds per box, 20 ? If there is only 20rnds per box that comes to 22.5 cents a round if my math is right.. Is it available in any Quanity ? If so might get a better deal. Let us know how it shoots please. |
| I'm interested to know what it is and how it shoots also. My distributor had it for 3.49 a box. I called them to ask for details and the guy said to call Federal for more info. Instead of calling I just had them ship me a case of XM193 (worked out to 4.17 a box). But if I knew what I was getting I'd like to try a case of the XM223B. So any pics or info would be great! |
| I just bought 500 rounds of XM223B from a store in North Carolina. The boxes are labeled as Federal Tactical LE ammo and the outside of the case is labeled as Federal Power-Shok ammo. Looks interesting, but I haven't shot any of it yet. The power-shok version of this 223 sells for about $12 online. |

the boxes hold 20 rounds and are labeled like federal pd ammo, as in silver & blue (think 50 rnd boxes of Hydra-Shok). it's 55 grain FMJ boat-tail. the side of the box reads: Federal Classic Rifle Cartriges - "Tested, tried and true. Federal's Classic Rifle loads feature Federal Hi-Shok and Speer Hot-Cor bullets known for their consistent accuracy, up to 200% expansion and deep penetration." so i guess the bullet isn't meant to fragment, but stays intact like federal's tactical bonded bullets, which are soft-points. this could just be BS and the XM223B has the same bullet that AE223 has, as it too is a 55 gr FMJ boat-tail. i may call Federal to see what the deal with this stuff is, as i can't find any info on their website or anywhere else online. |

I emailed Federal about this ammo and this was their response "This is basically the same load as our Std. 223B or AE223 but a little slower. It is a 55 grain FMJBT, it has a muzzle velocity of 3180 fps." from my distributor it's .68 cents a box cheaper than AE223....I think I might try a case. |
