| Has anyone fired any of the Federal 55gr. value pack from Wally World ? I just picked some up today. Wondering about velocity. I wont be able to check mine for a week or so. |

I bought a 200rd pack of the 50gr JHP (didn't realize it wasn't 55gr till I got in the truck) yesterday and burned up a 20rd box when I got home. I don't have any velocity measurements for you, but I do have a couple questions. The LOA of the cartridge is shorter than the 55gr M193 I've been shooting. It seemed to work fine when i was shooting yesterday, but I'm worried that the shorter cartridge length might cause feeding problems. Any issues, or do I just need a tin-foil hat? Also, is it reloaded brass? I noticed it has a Lake City headstamp - at least I think it does (LC 07 with a circled cross). |
1. Load is .223 spec, not 5.56. This means bullet is seated a bit deeper than M193 or M855 is--less freebore in a .223 barrel, more freebore in 5.56. It won't cause firing or feeding problems. I reload all my FMJ to M913 length, but I've fired a bunch of .223 spec length in AR and Mini-14. It all feeds goodly. 2. FC brass is good for one reload only. LC is good for five reloads. |

I have shot both out of my Bushmaster M4. The 50gr HP I had some feed issues. I have about 10 or so round that the bullets was pushed back into the case so I am going to pull it down and reload the LC brass. The advantage to the 50Gr HP os the LC brass. The 55gr FMJ is in Federal brass but it has a crimp in it so I dont know if it is the bad type of Federal brass to load. I have a bog full of brass to cut in half and take measurements. The 55Gr FMJ feeds a lot better but I still had 1 FTF in the 100 that I have shot. MAHA |

Got to the range today.Chronoed it at 2865 fps, 15' from the muzzle. This is out of a 16" SS barrel. Accuracy was ok but only have a RD on this gun at the moment. 1.25" @ 50 yds. They were getting ready to mow the grass so I couldnt stay and try 100 yds. Lake city checked at the same time was 3235 fps, and 1" @ 50 yds. |
