Before I go ordering parts tuesday I have but one last question...for now anyway.

M4 feed ramps.  From what I can gather they are somewhat extended feed ramps to aid in full auto cycling, however most uppers today advertised all seem to claim to have M4 feed ramps.  So, the question is if I bought an upper that has M4 feed ramps, can I use near any AR fitted barrel?  I dont really like the M4 prifile with the tapered section for the M203, though a grenade launcher may be a nice item later, I prefer to have a heavy barrel profile and I am even considering a WOA 18" Recon barrel for this build.  I want to order the upper and lower tuesday so your help between now and then is appreciated.

Thanks to all.

You may have problems using a barrel without an M4 cut extension in an upper with M4 cuts. This will create a small notch below the barrel extension that a low feed could get hung up on. using a barrel that has M4 cuts in a receiver without won't be a problem.

I'm sure someone a lot smarter than myself will correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have read:

M4 upper + non M4 barrel extension = misfeeds/problems
M4 upper + M4 extension = ok
Non M4 upper + M4 extension = ok
Non M4 upper + non M4 extension = ok
