Tweak, et al, Been following the threads and trying to understand the gas system. Bought a coupla used Colt A1 11.5s awhile back. One ran 100% with anything, the other had.........."issues". Was using Wolf, so initially thought I needed more gas. But tried SA M-193 and got the same result - which was the "double" feed of an empty and the next round from the mag. Took off the FL A1 buttstock and installed a collapsible with H buffer. No change. Also tried different mags, and though some were worse than others, the problem persisted. Still kept thinking I wasn't getting enough gas till I read that too much gas could cause the same problem b/c of too early extraction. Then it occurred to me that this might really be a marginal extraction problem. So today I installed a D ring (never needed one on the 20" and 14.5" uppers) and am happy to say it ran 140/140 Wolf rounds through old GI........and even Orlite mags (a real torture test, IME).
