I'm gonna be sending my rifle in for refinishing or replacement or whatever get worked out. It's a 14.5 with a pinned FH. It was (1) of only a handful of Noveskes with a Sabre Defence Extended A2. I just found out the other day that SDI basically got raided and shutdown, so I have a few questions.

1) Will they be able to reuse the same FH and have it fit properly?

2) Is there anywhere to still get a SDI extended A2?

3) Has anyone had a both a SDI and BCM extended A2? Any differences? I saw an old thread on here in which some one claimed that the SDI decreased recoil and the BCM increased it. I don't remember the SDI being a FH/Comp but some one else might? When I look at pictures of BCM A2X's the finish seems kinda rough "not pretty." Do they look bad in person?

4) Thought of something else. My SDI FH was pinned at 3 o'clock. A BCM A2X is pre-drilled on the bottom. Would they have to pin the new FH both underneath and on the side? Would it be pinned at 3 again with the open hole at 6? The threads are damaged when a FH is pinned correct?

1) You will not be able to reuse the flash hider if they take it off for refinishing.  They have to destroy it to remove it.

2) That will take some searching, but I don't think you'll have any luck finding one.

3) I don't know why someone would say that one increases recoil, while the other decreases.  It's an open ended flash hider, and considering the design is a copy of the A2, there will be no change in straightline recoil.  Some argue that the A2 design affords a little decrease in muzzle because of the closed bottom, but this is debatable and if it is true, it's probably a small amount, and the Sabre and BCM will feel the same.  But the felt recoil is the same, since it is open ended.

I don't think you should worry if you have to buy a BCM.  I've seen them and nothing about it screamed "rough" to me.  A2's have some variences in the exact dimensions, I have 3 Colts wearing the A2 flash hider and all 3 of them appear to have come from different suppliers.  Edges are very round on one while very square on the other 2, and one of the more square ones has different shaped ports around it than the others.

Hey thanks for the response. I probably will end up getting the BCM anyway. When I said "rough" I didn't mean "abrasive" I was trying to find a better way of saying "not pretty" lol
