really wanna know lol? that actually took 10 minutes to make lol. board was already 5 inches wide so i cut a piece just shy the length of the front of the upper/lower receiver to the end of the collapsed stock. then guestimated on how wide/tall the mag well piece needed to be, and a few nails from the nail gun later....we had a stand! tomorrow im gonna actually sit down and measure some wood out, take some accurate measurements for the mag well, and create me another one. add a few other fine touches, like using the router to round the corners of the base, and top of the mag stand.
If anyone wants me to post a how-to I'd more than happy to do so. |

If anyone wanted the stand info......mind you this was a throw together design that took me just a few minutes to make. It works well for shooting pictures of my AR and was not designed to hold my AR for long periods of time.
We started with a 3/4in thick by 5in wide plank. I just used whatever type of wood I had laying around. The base is 18in long X 5in wide. The actual mag piece is 7in long X 2 3/8in wide. If you go with a 1in thick wood it will not fit into the mag well. There is a little play in my design, meaning the AR isn't hard to put on the stand or take off. Be careful of the wood catching the mag release button on the inside of the mag well when sliding the AR onto your stand. |
