I am building my first AR from the ground up.  I got my lower and upper in and the finishes do not match.  I was thinking of using duracoat.  Any opinions or ideas of a better product?  He is the problem.

Thanks

I fail to see the problem but if you think they must match then send the set to US Anodizing & have it done right & very professional at a decent price.

Jerry  I've had success using Brownells baking lacquer on several different rifle builds. I just used the dark parerizing gray on my M16 clone and it turned out beautiful.  Check it out.  Kevin62

I really like Norrells Molly Resin… but the Brownells bake on stuff is good too…

I have used and hate Duracoat!

This. It looks just fine to me but reanodizing would get the color match closer. Nice mottled stock BTW.

Alternatively Norells is a pretty good color match for your lower.

For ARs I personally prefer Molyresin or Gunkote to Duracoat.  However you will need a solution to allow you to bake the parts with either.

I could not get a large photo to appear.

I think that having it anodized, again, or using KG GunKote are your best options.  Duracoat goes on too heavy for metal parts, to my liking.

Edited to add:
If your upper and lower are of Mega manufacture, call Mega and have them match them.

Kevin62,

Looks Great!

Can you please pass along the Brownells part number that you used?

Thanks

Looks like one of those new Mega billet lowers.  IMO you should get their new billet uppers and they will match perfectly (style and color).  Mega's teflon coating looks like a deep black and has a very slight luster.
