What year was the transition made from the "flat head" (not 601 "fat head") firing pin to the current improved style? Thanks for any help |

Quoted:
from Ekie's Guide: ArmaLite firing pin on top, current on bottom. Old part caused slam fires, and the new Colt’s design was put into production in 1963: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/Ekie12091941/variation%20guide/firingpins.jpg I thought there were three types...."fat head", "flat head", and the current type. Am I wrong on that? |

Am I wrong on that? Your not wrong. There was in fact 3 types. You had the original fat head, modified light flat head, and the current round head.
