Well, my project designed to save me money inflated into a cash hog. Oh well, I'm thrilled with the results. Sorry for the weak photos; I should send my rifle to stickman so he can take some proper shots
. The receiver isn't nearly as gold as it looks in the first shot, and the rail is definitely more dark earth than in the second.
Upper assembly:
Mega Upper (FDE by JCWeaponry)
Noveske BCG
Noveske Afghan 14.5 w/ perm. Vortex
Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II rail
Troy BUIS
Lower assembly:
Tactical Innovations BDX15
RRA LPK
MagPul MOE
MagPul CTR
The only issue I encountered in building this was with the TI BDX15 lower. In designing their lower for cosmetic appeal, a portion of the lower receiver restricts the movement of the bolt catch. I had to modify the bolt catch so it would engage/retain the bolt on an empty magazine. Thanks to Bastion (I believe) for the tip on that.
I sent them an e-mail that probably went directly to the trash expressing my disappointment in putting form over function––and then providing no notice that there was a problem with their design accepting mil-spec parts.
ETA: I've got a Cav Arms FDE lower that I'll throw it on for some pics when I get the LPK installed.
