Thinking of sticking a del-ton upper on a spikes lower.  Here are the options I'm looking at:

Item Name: 16" Mid-Length Rifle Kit
Item Price: $642.00
Options:
16 Rifle Kit - ML Barrel:DTI 16" 1x9 Mid-Length Heavy Barrel
16 Rifle Kit / Rifle -ML Handguards:YHM 4 Rail Light Weight Free Float Tube
-BC:Standard Bolt & Carrier
-Buttstock:M4 Buttstock - Black
-Grips:A2 Grip - Black
-Carrying Handle:None
-Flash Hiders:Phantom Aggressive End Comp/Brake
-Gas Blocks:YHM Flip Up Front Gas Block
-Lower Parts:Standard Lower Parts
-T Handle:Standard Charging Handle with Badger Tac Latch
-Uppers:Flat Top Upper with T-Marks

Anything I should add or anything you think is unnecessary?  All  thought and suggestions would be appreciated.

Edit:  This is going to be mainly something to just shoot around with and a shtf type of gun  I was thinking about upgrading to a chrome lined barrel or a 1:7 but I don't know if it's really necessary for my purposes.

Edited... Sounds good.

You will need a rear sight/ optic.

Yeah, forgot to list that.  Will be using a buis until I save up enough for a scope.

sounds like you have it all covered.  I would recommend the Rock River 2 stage.  If you can swing it, that is one of the best buys for the money.  Especially if you are putting a scope on it, the trigger will help tremendously with your shots.

I've heard that a 2 stage trigger may not be best in a rifle that might be used for self defense.  I can't remember exactly why though.  Any thoughts on this?

That looks like a pretty good deal but I'd really like a railed FF tube and a flip up front sight.
