I just bought my first AR10. It was a used Scott Medesha with a POF Upper and Lower Side charger, Geissele trigger with 26inch Krieger Barrel and nice adjustable stock with a cheek rest. I got the rifle for 1200.00 so I think I got a pretty good deal. The buffer looks like a shock or something, is that to reduce recoil. I want to load reduced recoil loads for my Son sometimes. Will it create any issues with ejecting the reduced loads or can I adjust the gas block to make them eject.

Very Respectfully

Factory reduced load .308's will most likely not cycle the action.

Maybe I'm interpreting you incorrectly. You said, " I want to load reduced recoil loads for my Son sometimes" so I'm thinking you reload ammo. I imagine you could work up a load that will cycle reliably. That shouldn't be too much trouble.

That's correct I do reload I just wasn't sure if I should switch to a "solid" buffer instead of the one that looks like a shock.  Never had an AR10 and have never seen a hydraulic buffer just checking with you guys to see if I need to change it for reduced loads

With the current set up, even stiff loads should not be a problem, because you have such a heavy barrel.  My problem with hydraulic buffers is the initial resistance of the plunger being of questionable resistance to the gas impulse acting on the carrier.

You have a adjustable gas block, use it to tune your rifle to what your shooting out of it.
