This is my first AR and my first post here. It's a bushy xm15-e2s. I plan on replacing the furniture on it and am wondering if there is hand guards out there that have built in rail systems with out installing a free float rail? I'm new to ar15s but have been lurking around this forum for a while before purchasing one. Thought about building one but decided I should just buy one first to familiarize my self with everything. Also my hand guard is 11.5" on a measuring tape. When I do eventually get a free float rail system do I get a 12" one? Haven't ever seen a 11.5" one...

Only reason I'm asking is I don't want to remove the barrel just yet. Also can't afford most of the good ones right now.

I suggest a Midwest Industries (MI) 2-piece non-FF rail system. You can find them on pretty much any site that sells AR-15 accessories, like midwayusa.com or bravocompanyusa.com

Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for. Is there a standard to these sizes? Bravocompanyusa.com list these sizes in rifle length, mid length etc., is this normal? Looked at alot of websites before and had trouble with this. Thanks once again. Gonna go with this one until I can get the hardware to change my own barrels.

I think you would need rifle length... dont quote me on that though. I have Midwest's 2pc rails on my rock river carbine and am very happy with them.

I'm going to keep it just in case. First AR so I'm trying to save up parts.

Alphaghost, thanks for the link. I can tell that's going to come in handy.
