Im getting ready to buy my first AR, I have made my mind up on the RRA Mid-Length A4 Flattop. Now they give you three options on barrels chrome-moly, chrome-lined or SS .223 Wylde. I like the concept of the Wylde Barrel but cant find much research done on them. I would probably shoot nato rounds sometimes because they are cheap, The gun will be used mostly for around 100yrd shooting. So does anybody here use the Wylde on there AR or know anything more about them?

The 5.56 nato chamber is slightly ... how can I put this... um...okay: "oversized/loose set/more forgiving", so that it is wide enuff to accept ANY 5.56/.223 round. Which makes it mostly suited for the 5.56 in terms of accuracy since it fits "less loose than the .223". The new Wylde chamber is a tighter fit which focuses more on .223, allowing you to gain more accuracy from the .223 and yet still be able to shoot your bulk/cheap 5.56's with mild/slight increases in accuracy hence why the wyld chamber was created, and cost a little more.

so it's

5.56 NATO which shoots anything, evan slightly oversized imported ammo
Wylde shoots 5.56 "spec ammo" and .223 with a slight accuracy boost
223 which shoots .223 ONLY at match accuracy "with descent ammo"

Get the chromed lined barrel and be happy with it.........I have the same rra midlength with a chromed barrel and could hit a pimple on your ass with it at 100 yrds. O'h, easy to clean too!

Well Ill take your  advice and probably go with the chrome lined barrel, the wylde barrel caught my eye because you can shoot .223 & 5.56 rounds through it without problems. I thought 5.56 were cheaper and that sounded good to me.
