I purchased my first AR 15 in the spring when they were hard to come by. It was custom built at one of the local gun shops in Columbus OH. Just wondering what you guys thought about it. Did I overpay, about right, or get a good deal? PRI is an ohio based company by the way.

| Considering the components, it looks like you did ok. I'd move that scope's mounts so that both are attached to the receiver, though. Having a scope attach to two separate components, no matter how solid they might feel, is opening a path for trouble to sneak in, IMHO. How does it shoot? |

It shoots well. I have had a few light primer strikes or fail to fire, especially when firing rapidly. I think it may be related to the adjustable gas block being to tight. I tried relaxing the screw, but haven't found the sweet spot. Still learning.
NIce tip about the reciever, I'll fix that. This is me shooting at 50 yards with just a pillow rest. I thought it was pretty good. http://i950.photobucket.com/albums/ad350/justinwvu/963e9c5d-c8e1-41fe-a880-705295197524_zpsd27eedf3.jpg |

shadow dancer, good to hear. I sort of thought i got a fair deal, given that I bought it in April when hardly any where available in my area. Not much information availabe on PRI, but it seems to be a good lower reciever. I wanted to get an ar15 before they were illegal, but nice to know I didn't get completely ripped off.

I wouldn't worry about PRI. The lower is the hardest thing for a manufacturer to botch up. The Upper is where I want to see a quality name. Most people who pay a premium for lowers are paying for a billet lower, a fancy cut, a brand name with a logo, or some combination of all of the above. Where the money should be spent in a lower (IMHO) is in the trigger. A good trigger, drop in or otherwise, will cost as much if not 3x as much as a quality forged lower. |
| It can probably be had for $1200 or less right now. But who cares? I bought and overpaid for a few things during that time. Los of people did. I'm not going to sell it, so I don't care. I'd be interested in hearing how well the BDC reticles work out for you. I have that scope, and the BDC reticles are very hard to see, and don't match up well for my ammo/rifle combo. I'm sticking to mil dot in the future. |
