Tula is notoriously underpowered and dirty.
f you continue to shoot with no lube, you will continue to experience shortstroking, fte, ftf, etc Most ar's like to to run pretty wet. You dont have to get crazy, just make sure you keep the bolt in the carrier wet, as well as the carrier.. Other than that, shoot the hell out of it and have fun Also, 4" at 100 is mighty fine shooting with tula and a red dot, good job. |

No it was brand new so I didn't think about it, not that its an excuse just saying lol It's good practice with all new firearms to diassemble and lubricate the weapon prior to shooting. This will help by being able to inspect the weapon of any defects or obstructions in the barrel. Like other have said, the Direct Impingment AR, runds a hell of alot better when it's properly lubricated and that may key why you had the initial issues.. Also, as stated, Tula isn't the best ammo but, if it's functions in your rifle, everything else should function properly also..Welcome aboard and congrats. Now clean and lube her back up and hit the range again..BRD is just starting my friend... |

http://i46.tinypic.com/2vah3tj.jpg Well should I use Wolf ammo? I dont mind buying brass either but are there any other brand I should stay away from? Thanks Im sure the 4" groups were the gun, not me lol. |

I wasn't saying tula is bad to run through your rifle. A lot of snobs on here will tell you that steel case will ruin your rifle.
I shoot wolf, silver bear, tula, herters, etc etc. Never a problem, just a lot of cleaning. The bottom line is, the cheaper the ammo, the more you get to plink/train for your money. *edit* You really need a rear flip up iron site. Look on the EE of this site for a used one under the optics section for the best deal. Sight the irons in and then the red dot. Also, a sling would be a nice addition. (A necessity really) |

Wouldnt that be in the way tho? Im having a hard enough time trying to not "see" the front sight and I feel its in the way. I got a new sling on it too, I took that pic 1 week ago. No. Get a flip-up one. Flip it up when you need to use it, fold it down when you're not using it. Magpul and Troy are the two most popular brands for folding back-up sights. ETA: You'll have to move your optic forward a bit though from where it is now. Most people mount it right over the mag-well. |

You'll leave it in the down position when not using it. The point of the buis is that in the case of your red dot going down, you can remove it and still be in the fight. I like my red dots mounted out further. I have them mounted on the very furthest forward point possible on the upper receiver. It helps with quicker target acquisition for me. Reddots are not meant for long range benchrest paper punching. |
