So i am looking at doing a 602 as my first AR. My main concern is finding A decently priced Pencil profile Barrel. I can find em' but i am rather concerned weith quality, if i am gonna build it i want the best parts in my build. Gotta go with a NDS matched upper and Lower. But the time being i am getting the rest of the parts first as they are somewhat more readily available and don't have to shell out $300 at once.

are you going for authentic parts of are you ok with modern production parts?  usgi pencil barrels can be found on the EE and GB but they are going to be pricey.  green mountain makes a retro barrel which is easier to find but after buying a FSB and getting it mounted, you might be better off with a gi barrel anyways.

so why a 602 vs a 604?  real 602 uppers are pretty rare and if you get a nds upper, to make it a 602, you'd have the get the rear sight markings ground down and the arrow R engraved, it would then need to be reanodized to cover up the grinding/engraving.

Whoops, I seemed to have Overlooked the Rear Sight Marking differences. I want it to be a Look alike, I don't really plan on using any USGI parts other than the furniture. any ideas would be great. as i said i am just now getting my parts list in order so i am open to ideas

A 604 is a close relative. Check out the other threads on this first page - someone just posted a couple links to cheap 20" barrels. The 'Future of Retro' is reproduction parts IMO. Nice uppers are still out there, but not as common as they used to be. Nodak Spud is the way to go for upper and lower receivers these days IMO. Good luck on the build, and don't forget to check out Ekie's guide at the top of the page, and of course retroblackrifle.com  -oh, and welcome to the forum!

I guess for Ease of finding Parts i could just do a 606 HBAR. Minus the Unique Buffer like it lists on http://www.retroblackrifle.com/

Check the 2nd page of the 'idea for a proto-retro build' thread. You can do a 606 with an A2 barrel, or have it reprofiled - the A1 barrel really handles much better though. MUCH better. My next build looks like it's going to be a 605.

You gonna SBR it or just pin the FH?

It'll be pinned. I've had an SBR in the works for a long time, but paying for 1" or barrel seems silly.

I would.... but then again i would be willing to pay for an SBR if it was only 1/2 an inch.... If it were legal here that is.... Friggin Michigan everything else is legal except SBR's and SBS'

Welcome.  One thing I would consider is sourcing quality parts if you're going to shoot it.  The funny thing about the retro crowd is that by sourcing actual surplus parts, we're getting bolt carriers, bolts, barrels, LPK's, and other components that contribute to a more reliable blaster at the end of the day.

There really are no two equal parts with a Mil-Spec gun and a lot of the look-alikes out there.  NDS does a great job with their receivers, so that's a great start if you choose to go that route.  Welcome again.

Good luck with your build, sounds like you'll really enjoy it. I've already got 3 ARs and my 4th was going to be a Mk18 MOD0 but then I started coming here and decided I needed a retro. I'm planning on a Project Agile build to later suppress and turn into a Mk4. I look forward to pictures of your build!

Also, welcome to the club. (haven't been here long myself)
