Ok, I've decide to build an AR-15 and need some info on what i can't do to it here in long island NY (suffolk county).  I've already ordered a stripped Mega lower which is on its way.
My first question is what magazine can i use?  Am i allowed by law to use a high capacity or do i have to use a 10rnd?  I believe the stock must be fixed and i want something that looks decent...any suggestions?  Also who makes the best lower parts kit for a mega reciver?  Lastly, i was thinking of a bushmaster complete upper m4 style post ban (no flash hider), will this fit and match up nicely to the mega?

Any magazine made before 9/94 is fine, make sure it does not say LEO/MIL only on it. You can't have a flash suppressor, bayonet lug or telescoping stock on it. Any quality lower parts kit should be fine. A bushmaster should slap right on with no problems

Edit-missed one-You can get a cavarms stock from Quantico Arms, it is a shorter a1 length stock that is better in length that the A2 stock that most ARs have now. You can get it with matching furniture and pistol grip in green, black or tan.

Thanks for the reply.  So i can use any mag made before that date even though the lower receiver is not a pre ban, correct?   Wierd how that works, parts specific i guess.  I'll check out the stock you recommended.  Also i'll prob get a free float grip as well, any recomendations?  Oh, and is it still legal to put a front handle grip on there for my left hand?  Sorry for so many questions.

Right, date of production of the lower means nothing, it's the date of the production of the magazine that matters.

Front grip is fine.

There are a million freefloat handguards and everyone has a different opinion on them. You have to decide if you want it railed to attach lights, grips, bipod etc, those are more expensive than just a regular free float, Read the AR section throughly for info on that.
