Been creeping here for a while, and decided I'd better sign up. Decided I'd rather build my first AR than buy. Something about a sense of accomplishment and knowing it's kind of my own. But anyways, here's what I've got so far as far as completed and my plans for what's left.

Spikes Tactical Lower
RRA Two Stage Trigger
Mako Group Grip
MOE Stock
ASAP Sling Mount
Harford Engraving Ejection Port Cover
Aero Precision Upper
Seekins Precision Magazine Release
BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle
JP Adjustable Gas Block

Barrel and Compensator will be in this week. Went with a BCM 14.5" lightwight and a Battle Comp 1.5. Still in debate about the BCG. Leaning heavily toward a nickel boron, especially with Spikes releasing the new lightweight BCG. Also ordered a Seekins bolt catch, but no idea when I'll get that with the backorders. Gonna go with a Vortex Strikefire with VMX-3T magnifier and a set of back-up iron sights, just need to make sure I get sights with a low enough profile so the magnifier will clear. Any input, good or bad, is appreciated.

Sadly the magazine release isn't in. Somehow managed to lose the spring. New one will be here Tuesday though. Decided to pick up a regular bolt catch from my local dealer until my Seekins arrives.

Unless you have a tax stamp coming from the ATF for a short barreled rifle on a form 1, be sure to have that Battle Comp pinned and welded right off.  Be sure it's permanently over 16" and not a thousandth under.

Great start for a nice stick!

I like it. A little bigger than most grips and fits my hand nicely.
Already set up to get the Comp pinned on. Just gotta take it to the smith once it comes in.

Been a little bit since I updated the build. Finally had a day off and decided to get going on it. 95% done. Here's some updated pics.

Decided to silver solder the Battlecomp myself.

Had to slightly notch the handguards so I can get to the gas block screw

Some discoloration, mostly on the comp

A little cleaner and degreaser with some blueing. Still some slight discoloration. Gonna let it sit overnight and hit it again tomorrow.

Ordered Spike's new lightweight BCG in nickel boron.

All I need is the iron sights and she's ready to shoot. Gonna skip the strikefire-magnifier combo and put an EOTech on it until I save up for an ACOG. Then I'll turn around and put the EOTech on my future 300BLK build. Overall I'm very satisfied with the build, especially with it being my first AR and build.

Pretty damn good for your first build.  Oh by the way, you know that the BattleComp is made out of stainless.  It is black oxide coated so I'm curious how the bluing is working out?

So what's the advantage of the lightweight bcg?

The reduced mass carriers used along with an adjustable gas block really improves an ARs recoil impulse.
Along with a good comp there is almost zero muzzle movement and very fast follow up shots.

For an idea of how soft they can shoot, here's a video of my JP low mass carrier, adjustable gas, captive recoil spring, and nordic comp rifle at the last gateway 3-gun.

Finally got out to shoot. Only put about 50 rounds through it, but I'm hoping to get out and put more through on Saturday. Shoots just how I hoped it would. 3 rounds to get the gas block set right and very minimal recoil and muzzle rise.

iPhone video, so not too good on quality. Saving up to get a Go-Pro so I can record my hunts.
EDIT: Can someone explain how to properly embed a youtube video? I've been trying to get the video up, but every time I use the video tag I get the above result

All I could say when the firing started was "Wow!" I think .22 recoils more than that!
