hey guys

I recently caught the bug to build a pistol, first i wanted to build it in .45acp but that seems to be WAY more work than its worth so i will probably go for the 9mm. I hope to file paper work after i build and test the pistol for an SBR.

I want this pistol for fun at the range and HD.

I already have the lower receiver.

I am looking for recommendations on were to purchase the remaining parts and what you guys suggest.

My total budget is around the $750-800 mark

thanks!

I recently caught the bug myself, so I am watching this section as well.
I am personally looking at an upper from REDX arms from what I read is good quality for messin around with.
Also looking at GSE Gen 2 recoil system. Its supposed to work well.
Good luck with your quest and post pics when its done.

9mm can be tricky.   I think most magwell blocks are sketchy and all magazines are sketchy except Colt and Metalform.

So, I recommend the Hahn top insert magwell block with Metalform magazines.  I like Garrison Mfg. bolts with a 9mm hammer.  Or you can find a ramped bolt and run a standard hammer without a notch.

Good luck.

Looks like the Garrison bolts are hard to come by.  CMMG ramped bolt and DPMS hammer would probably work.  Mags are the most important thing though.

Thanks for that info.

I don't want to do it in .223 due to it being used as a HD weapon

There is a 9mm dedicated lower that use's Glock mag's without any block involved, be the only way I'd do one.  I think it's from Superior, but don't quote me.

DDLE sells one for the Glock magazine.  Good quality from all reports and good customer service.

9mm will go through walls just like 223 will.  Home defense or not you'll have holes in your walls and bullets will travel outside the house in either caliber.

You can get a drop-in block that will allow the use of Colt-style or modified Uzi magazines.  (I have one, in fact that will allow the use of only un-modified Uzi magazines.)  Then you just need the upper in 9mm.

So far as overpenetration is a concern, I like frangible rounds for HD.  They are lighter and faster, but break up on impact with 'hard' targets.
