Hey y'all. I'm new around here and came because I found it fitting as I have just purchased a S&W M&P 15. Not only is it my first AR, it's my first gun, and I absolutely LOVE it!

The only thing I would like to change is the trigger break point. It came stock at 7lbs, but I would prefer it at something more around 3.5 or so. Can this be done by a gunsmith at a reasonable price?

email him and get a price quote.   cheap and the best money spent for an AR trigger.

About how much would it cost? Also, how long does it take to get returned?

Believe it's in the $40.00 neighborhood depending upon how light you want it. E-mail the guy I've heard nothing but good about him or his work.

ill copy the email i have saved from bill...

I can set you up your S&W runs $32 each, for the 4 lbs pull; add $14 for a 3lbs pull. This
includes a lighter spring kit and lightening of the hammer for more positive
primer ignition. All trigger creep will be eliminated.
I need the trigger, hammer, disconnector, and  their associated
springs .

On a fighting/SD weapon, I would keep the 7# trigger pull. It will smooth out with use.

Yeah, but doesn't more squeeze affect accuracy? Also, it's not for SD unless some dumbass breaks into my house, I got it to blast some hogs and varmints.

I polish the sear surfaces, and shave the bottom of the hammer to shorten the pull. Gets me down to about 4.5 lbs.
