My very first AR, first rifle for that matter, was more of a pistol guy before BRD set in. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/LMT2.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/LMT1.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/LMT4.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/LMT3.jpg Took me a while to save for everything but Im glad I waited and got the LMT. |
|
Is that supposed to be a factory LMT rifle? The upper receiver is not a standard LMT upper, and the castle nut would be staked if it was a factory lower. I don't mean to nit pick, but I'd hate for your first AR15 to be a homebuilt job you may/may not have got screwed over on. |
|
It is a factory lower and upper, ordered it straight from LMT then added the DNTC, surefire foreend, ARMS #40 rear, and ML3/LaRue Cant. The lower is also factory, the original castle nut was....damaged...during removal to put on the CQD sling mount, so that one is a replacement I just haven't staked yet (thanks for the reminder :P) |
|
I was skeptical before I shot it, but the brake turned out real nice. I can notice a difference in muzzle rise. As far as a sling I havent decided on one, I really want a single point that has an option to detach from the body quickly, its hard to decide without being able to try them on. And I do need a flashlight, I have a 6P defender I want to put in a offset LaRue mount, just need more funds. So if you feel like donating a flashlight mount feel free :P |
Even if it was a factory lower it would not have had that sling mount. To the OP, are you a lefty? |
Nope, the CQD sling mount just has a lefthanded loop as well as 2 RH loops. I put it on thinking I was gonna be using a CQD 2-point sling. |
Ok cool. LMT is using a more beefed up upper receiver than they used to I guess. Great weapon for sure, great for a first one as well. |
|
Ergo grip was yeterday or should I say two years ago. Get a tango dwn or MIAD. I would move up your Aimpoint mount right to the end to make it look more balance and get a Troy or GG&G Flip up Rear sight. Did you get a Trijicon tritium front sight yet? Check out the Magpul Stocks and latter rails. for a Larue rail or Troy FF. But other then that Great rifle. I have Colts but have always been impressed with LMT. |
Thats right Remove all the parts that work fine and invest in other parts that work fine. Just buy ammo and mags by the crate full. blingARate it later. "move up your AIMPOINT.....make it look more balance" WTF is this industry coming to |
op, nice rifle, i too went with an lmt complete as my first real ar and i couldn't be more happy.
i was thinking the same thing seems to me the op knows enough about what he wants/needs out of his rifle.ap |
| Very nice first BR. I have one that is very similar (save for an LMT BUIS, Magpul CTR and MIAD, an eotech and Daniel Defense free-float) that is my favorite BR and my go to rifle. I wish I would have bought an LMT first, I went through three other BR's that I wasn't happy with before my defender. There's nothing wrong with any of the stuff you have it set up with right now. If any of it breaks replace it, but otherwise vltor stocks, ergo grips and ARMS buis's all work fine in my experience. |
Its a Vltor Basic Carbine Modstock, I find it just as comfortable as a SOPMOD at half the price. SOPMOD is a hell of a stock though. And I have a MIAD grip, its in my parts bin, I like the ERGO! As for rail ladders, if i wanted ladders Id use the ones surefire game me. The only ones Id want over the magpuls I have now is the Knights covers. I think this rifle is done after a light. Next build will be an LMT 10.5" SBR. |
Looks almost like my SOPMOD. Anything thats half the price of the SOPMOD and just as comfy is a winner in my book. |
Its a rifle, not a flower arrangement. |
G23, my carry gun. |
VERY NICE ! I have 2 myself 1 of them looks like yours LMT M4 14.5 + phantom SOPMOD 2 stage trigger LARUE CANTILEVER Aimpoint ML2 Arms 40 L same plane KAC RAS KAC FVG PR4 sling mount & Black Hawk 1 pt Sling My other M4 is just a LMT M4 14.5 upper on a VLTOR Bushy lower ,arms 40 and Eotech 551 They are Very accurate with BLACK HILLS 75/77OTM`S under 1 inch groups |
Thats why I went with the PR4 mount on the LMT web site |
The Aimpoint SHOULD BE MOVED UP THATS WHAT THE CANTILEVER WAS MADE FOR ( more space ) WTF is this industry coming to |
Yeah, light is next on the list. picked up 10 mags and 700 rounds to start with. And just because a cantilever mount it designed to extend over the handguards doesnt mean it has to. That is where I like the Aimpoint in relation to my face, so there it sits. |
For my LMT M4 I bought the VIKING TACTICS MOUNT its a OUTSTANDING mount for the Price 20 bucks or so! For a Light I bought a G2 Surefire for 35 bucks its been going strong for over a year now! For the Price and QUALITY it cant be BEAT |
where did you mount it? right side? I cant decide if underneath or right side would be better. |
That would be a ziptie. Adds extra solidarity to the grip and ensures that it stays exactly where I want it. |
|
Introducing the new Fung Shui compatible "balanced" configuration!!... http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/IMG_1223.jpg Notice how the placement of the Cantilever mount on the top rail pulls the theme of the rifle together, making machine one with the operator. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/IMG_1225.jpg The tree will have to do I didnt have a flower arrangement to place it in. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd276/bdmoehri/IMG_1222.jpg |
