Ive always been more a C&R guy,w/ a preference for the other "evil" gun, but I gotta say, while The Ak feels more like a heavy duty 4 wheel drive, the Ar feels more like a sports car, light and agile. Guess I gotta say thanx Obama since I I kept putting off getting an AR....now I have one and picked up a stripped receiver as well, seems a tad easier than an Ak build...I actually havent seen many like this from the factory and was pleasantly surprised when I went to my dealer expecting to pick up a bare bones Dpms, instead found a heavy fluted barrel,4 rail gas block and 6 rail hand guard....now to buy optics or start building the second?......I think Ill start the second since optics shouldnt get banned....already learned tons from here, cant wait for more.

Very nice gun!  You might want to get the barrel threaded and put a flash suppressor.  My room mate has one with no flash suppressor and it makes a HUGE difference.  The only place we have to shoot within an hour of where i live is an indoor range, and the flash is horrible when we go shoot there.

Both are DPMS products.

Unfortunately Im in NY so adding  threads and a flash suppressor is a gray area w/ us still having the 94 AWB.. in this config. its NY complaint....this is gonna be an midrange varmit gun so Im not concerned w/ flash, the one Im gonna build will be a 16" tactical so that will have a flash hider and such...

As you said, the BRD has already started coursing through your veins!

Great job, quite a looker!

Maybe a carbine or a long range precision shooter for the incomplete lower? Meet criteria for different situations!

Can’t wait to get my first AR, also probably a local DPMS , and converting it from carbine to a full length rifle that I would like!

I do know that the FSC556 is a darn good "flash hider" even though BATF has classified it as not being a flash-hider. Just a thought.
