A few months ago I figured that since I was getting into firearms that I would buy myself an AR but at the behest of my friends I decided to complete the build myself.  It gave me some idea of how the gun works as well as enabled me to fix any (fixable) problems that might come along with it. So here is my list of of parts:

Spike's stripped lower
Rock River Arms LPK w/ 2 Stage Trigger
Magpul UBR
Magpul MIAD
LaRue Stealth 16" Upper with 12" LT Handguards
Troy Flip-Up front and rear back up sights
Troy Claymore 5.56 Muzzle Brake
Troy Modular Grip/Magpul AFG2 (I'll change them up depending on my mood)
Aimpoint PRO with LT129 Cantilever mount
Surefire 6PX Pro w/ LT 606 mount

And here are some pics, please don't mind the quality of the photos, I only use my iPhone for pictures these days:

Here it is with both the Troy and AFG2 just because it looks cool and for no other reason, don't hate:

I built the brackets holding it up on the wall this past weekend just for fun.  They came out much better than I expected them to.

I've only got about 150 rounds down range with it so far. I've never had to sight in a firearm before so it's a bit inaccurate when shooting down the Aimpoint but the iron sights are pretty much dead on at 100 yards.

Any advice on sighting it in would be appreciated.

Thank you, sir.  I figured that if I was going to spend some money, I might as well do it with no regrets. It was rather costly ($3k+) but very much worth it.

Nice rifle, you won't be disappointed by the LaRue!

Being a dick, you should have gone Geissele or JP trigger while you were at it

Nice build, you should swap the lower for a Larue and use the Spike's for another build

I'd agree with swapping the Spikes lower receiver for a Larue receiver and building up a Spikes rifle to use and abuse.

I've considered doing that as well.  But while I wanted to buy quality parts, I also wanted to have a bit of customization (IE, the Spike's lower has the American flag engraved) which isn't really an option with the LaRue lowers.  I want to do a complete Spike's build with MOE furniture down the road so it's definitely some food for thought. And not to mention, I got the Spike's lower for a steal ($125 with the FFL transfer fee).

As for the Geissele/JP triggers.....maybe down the road.  After a while I started going a bit over my budget and had to cut some of the parts I originally planned on buying for cheaper but still reliable and quality parts. I figured that RRA is a pretty well respected company and I haven't heard too many bad things about their triggers so it would suffice.

And again, I'm a newbie when it comes to shooting long guns so the difference of trigger quality would probably be lost on me anyway.

Oh and with sighting in the Aimpoint.
(with bipod or supported with sandbags)
First-sight it in at 10 yards
Second-sight it in at 25 yards
Third- shoot at 100 yards and make adjustments as necessary. The bullet's impact should only drop about 1.5 to 2.5 inches at this range.
This way you are sighted in at close range and mid-range engagement of targets.

Geissele FTW when you can afford it.  There is a pretty large difference, and you will have no regrets.  Nice build regardless!!
