Im looking to build my first AR any suggestions on products?

Any specific goals or intended uses for your first AR other than it just being 'first'?

Not really any goals just want it reliable, probably something simple since im new to the who build thing then get more fancy with the next one. The only AR I have ever shot is the one I use at work (HK416). And one huge obstacle is I live in CA, the anti gun state

You need to state target price, intended use, features & what CA allows you to have for us to be able to give you an idea.

I would like to stay around the $1000 range with out optics, this will be just a range gun and CA you must have a bullet button on the lower

stick with most of the brands you see othe people use. bcm, spikes tactical, daniel defense are the main three companies that have quality parts for mostly resonable price, use rainier at the top of the screen, lot of good choices to pick from.

Contact the manufactures you might use.
Explain where you live and see what they offer for you.
Pick what you want.

IMO I'd say for a first AR that is effective and simple, I'd go with a M16A4 clone. Iron sights, fixed stock, no bayo lug, and a bullet button. I think that will cover Cali regs. Shoot the snot out of it.
