I am looking to build a new Ar in the M4 pattern. I have owned a Colt 6601 Sporter for 15 years, and while looking at new rifles I started looking at the savings that are possible by building it yourself. I am probably going to use a Essential Arms lower, but I am really not sure. The Del-Ton kits are really reasonable, so the question I have is how good are the stock non chromed barrels that Del-Ton Sells. Is it worth it to go with a hard chromed one, or even a DPMS barrel? How do the Del-Ton kits compare with RRA and DPMS? What kind of accuracy should I expect from the DTI barrel? Will it compare to others? I mean building an M-4 for about $625.00 is really tempting. The best price I could find for a complete rilfe was $775.00 for a Bushmaster M4 with LE discount. Thanks for any help Samned East Tn |

I've built about 5 kits so far using a Del-Ton complete upper kit and have always been happy with the outcomes. Since I don't do a whole heck of alot of shooting through any one rifle, I opted to just order the chrome-moly barrels. As far as accuracy is concerned with the DTI barrels, I am rather pleasantly surprised and pleased with them. I'm placing an order for just the complete barrel kits to replace a couple of my postban barrels that are on my Bushmaster rifles. |
